I couldn't find the location for the Compliance Plate but it took me through a fascinating trail of information on ADR (Australian Design Rules) requirements and the 1989 Regulations on Motor Vehicle Compliance Plates.

If the huge cost of used Jaguars in Australia isn't enough to put anyone off, the bureaucracy has to be sufficient to deter all but the most determined!

The guys on the Australia/New Zealand Region section must know the Compliance Plate location. There's been plenty of discussion there about them.

I got a funny feeling it is in the boot alongside the battery??.

I will email a couple of XK8/R owners and return with their answers.

thanks all, for the quick responses.

I do not think it is on the door in Aust, have a feeling it is hidden in the boot too.

It appears these Compliance Plates are metal like the old fashioned Chassis Plates and not the stickers used in Europe and the US:

When you find out for sure where it's located, please post the answer here.

I'm back.

It is in the boot, alongside the main fuse block, which is alongside the battery.

Only in OZ.

Mr MacFish. I hope you are looking for the ADR Plate (that's in the boot/trunk) prior to any purchase. Now to find the engine number. If you are in Victoria practice hoop jumping for RWC and Vicroads. Tyres must be speed rated for cars top speed too just a thought.I could find only two brands that made suitable tyres available in Oz. Good Luck!!

Thanks Graham,

Sorry, mine is a UK import so doesn't have a ADR plate as such.

Are you sure it was an Australian delivered vehicle?
My yellow personal import sticker is affixed to the drivers side B-pillar which is the equivalent to ADR plate in my case?

Just for reference - I have a 2014 Australian delivered XKR - the Compliance Plate is not where you mentioned, but in the spare wheel cavity on
the RHS of the spare wheel. Looks like the placement of this plate appears to be random..........

What size tyres you running?
I'm on 20 inch and found a huge range, pretty much all of them rated 99Y. which is rated to 300kmh.

Welcome to the forum Roger,

This forum, and the discussion, refers to the 1996 - 2005 XK8/XKR. It is reasonable that the plate is in a different location on your 2014 XKR as the battery is also in a different location!

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

THREAD HI-JACK!

Relevance please, baxtor. The topic is about the Compliance Plate and not on tyre choices.

The thread topic is location of the Compliance Plate. If you want to discuss tyre options, start a thread on that topic.

I am leaning toward these which are all a combination of 7 letters and numbers or 7 letters.

2005XK8 - People are not going to know the year and most people are not going to know the model.

VXKX104 - Year, model and model code

05JAGXK - Year, make and model

KOWBOIZ - I already have OES YOO and OES YOU on two other of my cars. Again oSu phonetically.

VJAGUAR - The "V" representing the number 5 and the first letter in my last name.

Are not people going to know it is a Jaguar, so why use the JAG or JAGUAR?
