Sill scuff plate XK8

Sill scuff plate XK8
I have to replace dreaded fluid hose on XK8. I have dismantled most of interior but last job is to remove sill scuff plate to lift carpet. Is there a simple way to do this without damaging plate ? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

Since I posted that procedure, I've done another using a credit card instead of fishing line to ease the insert away from the glue.
