The first thing I found broke when I bought my xk8 convertible was the plastic bracket that holds the dome light in place in pieces! I figured it was original and looked for another. Found out they are not being produced anymore. I put the part number on eBay and found a new stock unit for around $20. Once mounted I figured well that’s good for a few years. 6 months later the dome light fell in to my lap!!
I hsowd it to my buddy who is a too. Maker and asked if he could come up with a fix. Well he went on an above with a solid billet dome bracket carved from a block of aluminum. This one should last a while!!!

 

I also broke mine the first time I removed the light cover. Got a cheap replacement for about $8 (HJA2057AB), but it would be really cool to be able to just fabricate one whenever. Do you have stl or other drawing files for this part?

Thought about doing something similar for the J-gate bracket, which is unavailable. More difficult problem there because it is a complex polymer that must be cast or moulded.

I have a new plastic bracket on the shelf waiting for the day I need it.

But I would pay for one of those aluminium brackets if I could get one. Just sayin...

Or if your guy wants to share the file he used to cut it. I have those machines at my office and could get one cut easy enough.

 

Final piece in my hands ! Fits perfect should end that problem. This was done as a favor . He said to time consuming to produce by hand.
