Default xk8 convertible trunk

Are there truck shocks that will open the XK8 trunk completely. Not just ajar by 1"

Unless you could find a motor-driven strut, a pair of struts strong enough to lift the boot cover to fully-open would make it very difficult to close.

On my 2002 XKR the trunk will open the one inch using any of the trunk releases. Just subsequently touching the trunk, even slightly, will cause it to raise up all the way, and stay in that position.

is there a problem with that sequence that I’m missing ?

Default Standard feature

Nope, the trunk/boot lid is just too darn heavy to go up by itself. As MVMonarch said above, it would take some pretty strong struts to open fully on its own. That lid weighs a ton. Both my 2001 and 1998 models worked as you describe regardless of the method used to open it.

As Jaguar might say, it's not a fault, it's a feature.
