Default XK8 door lock, key fob problem - RESOLVED

Hello she's a 1997 xk8 rhd
Both of my key fobs worked locking and unlocking the doors, releasing the boot and putting on the headlights
I removed the drivers door card to grease the window runners ,which is now smooth in operation.
on opening the doors the windows drop, and go up when the doors are closed.
I can lock and unlock the doors and set the alarm with the key, when I select drive both doors also lock.
But now neither of my key fobs work (lock, unlock, boot or lights)
I have checked the block connector going to the door lock it seems ok.
I have checked the ignition switch ,the flap returns and the interior lights come on when the key is removed.
it seems something is preventing the fob talking to the car,
is there a micro switch in the lock
any suggestions would be appreciated

Welcome to the forum cazthecat,

Simple things first. Have you tried reprogramming the fobs?

Well ,went mad with the WD40 sprayed the block connecter , the door lock and the ignition lock (the little flap feels worn I think that this was the problem ). left it for a while so that the oil could do it's work.
success the spare fob now works , however the other fob still doesn't work.I have tried to re programme but the car won't "chirp".oh well I will just have to keep trying.
Don't you just love them

Good news.

I've added 'RESOLVED' to your thread title to help others searching for a solution to this issue in future.

......... next job - don't forget to post an Intro!
