Default Xk8 Electrical issues

Hi ,I am a new 'Junior' member from NZ that would really appreciate some advice on an issue I have.
Car is a 1996 XK8 . Issue was a Low Performance alert ,Limp mode.Diagnosed as Low input timing sensor fault.
Replaced sensor but issue developed again after 50klm.Also noticed seat electrics including seat belt light malfunction.Garage is at a loss.
I am led to understand that battery performance can contribute to electrical anomalies .Can one of you very knowledgable members provide some enlightlement on these issues.
Your begging grovelling Junior

Most people keep the battery on a battery tender when the car is not in use. The battery must show over 12.5v when not in use . A new battery every 4 years is advised and if the car is new to you and you dont know the age of the battery then change it

^^^ very well said ^^^

@stumo , there are many theories why keeping the battery on a tender when the car is not in use, overnight or longer, is a successful strategy for keeping the electrical gremlins at bay. I like to think that the aging electronics, circuits , and wiring have increased resistance to current flow. This alone can trigger a wide variety of problems.

On my own 2002 XKR, all electrical issues went away once the battery tender was employed. That’s the only confirmation I need to keep on using on using the tender.

it may not help in every situation, but causes no harm either.
