Default XK8 Emission Control Upgrade Options

I have a 98 XK8 Conv with a Vehicle Emission Control Label that shows it "conforms to US EPA and State of California regulations applicale to 1998 model year new passenger cars".
What options do I have to have the car recognised and labelled as conforming "to US EPA and State of California regulations applicale to 2001 model year new passenger cars"? I see the 2001 and younger models have such an emission label.
Cheers.

Many places that require emissions tests have their own emissions stickers they issue to passing vehicles. If your area doesn't test then you have nothing to worry about. Perhaps if you tell us what you are trying to accomplish? If you just want to be as emission friendly as possible, I suppose you could install newer catalytic converters, but I am not sure how much more efficient they will be. I have to admit I am out of my element here as I don't have emissions testing and I actually removed all of the catalytic converters from one of my cars when I changed the exhaust.

I’m keen to take this car back to New Zealand and (apparently) need to have it compliant with US2001 standards instead of the current US1998 (as shown on the catalyst system label under the hood/bonnet) .

So there is the pragmatic issue of how do I get the car to comply with this revised standard (ie is it a matter of upgrading components on the car?).

I’m quite a novice at all this and am feeling my way forward through various issues. I don’t even know exactly which components are affected.

Any advice you have would be most welcome.

Hmmm...that is a good question. You might want to talk to someone who imports cars to New Zealand and see what they can tell you. I guess I haven't looked, but where is this label exactly. I'm guessing (which might be a bad thing) that the emissions equipment is very similar and that the newer cars are just certified by the newer standard, so it might be just a case of finding someone that can get you a newer label.
