Xk8 front handbrake cable replacement
Hello chaps! Do hope everyone is perfect, and enjoying your Jags. I have some questions. Setting the handbrake on, I heard a noise like something was snapped . The handbrake lever just became loose. Investigating this I found out, that the front cable was cut off , the one which controls the equalizer, from the handbrake handle. Lifting the car up, it was quite obvious which one it’s was, and by removing a rubber tap, I just took it out, showed that the metal head at the end was cut off.
I need to ask you, how difficult is to replace this? Do I have to remove the front seat? As well, found the part which shows quite expensive for a cable of just a meter. By any chance there’s something similar on the aftermarket maybe ?
Thank you very much indeed !
Cheers .

Cheers Cpt,
i dont know if its necessary to remove the driver seat, but access to the handbrake lever is much easier if the seat is out. just four screws and one or two cable connectors, thats it.

Attached is a picture of the routing for the park brake cable. You will have to remove the drivers seat. The bolts for the brake mechanism are screwed into the slight upright section of the floor pan. Once the gator is removed you should be able to access the bolts. You can see how it is routed in the picture.
