xk8 fuel vent
I have just replaced the fuel pump assembly at Jaguar for my 2003 XK8 and is smells from raw fuel in my trunk. Every time I raise my top, the fumes become unbearable for a few minutes in the car. The odor never leaves my trunk. I brought it back and all they say is that it willl disappear because there is nothing wrong. I brought it into another dealer and they said I needed to replace a manifold gasket because I was leaking oil and when that hit the exhaust, it smelled like fuel. Well I guess they thought I just fell off the old turnip truck because there is no way that burnt oil smells like fuel, but because I saw the oil leak, I had them fix that anyway. Is there anyone out there that can tell me if there is any type of venting for the fuel tank or fill up. The odor comes from behind my rear seat. Please Please help.

Double check the gasket where you put your new fuel pump assembly. It may have gotten sideways a little bit. Also, there are vents (at least I think) that are in the trunk. Peek behind some of the panels in the trunk to make sure they're not leaking, but my first guess would be the pump gasket since that's what you messed with.

fuel vapors - fuel pump assembly
Thanks for the input. The mechanic claims that the gasket is on correctly, but I'll have him check it again. Is there any diagrams available to show me the venting from the fuel tank or fuel assemblt that could be the cause if vapor in the trunk of my XK8, 2003
