Default XK8 headlights not working

My 1999 XK8 has been off road for the last couple of months while I work through a number of issues. I have stripped out the interior back to bare metal and replaced all the interior bulbs which involved removing further trim.

While moving the car this evening (sitting on floor!) I noticed there were no headlights. The green interior bulb was on and I have high beam and daylight bulbs but no main beam.

Have I broken something or have the bulbs mysteriously failed together or blown from taking battery in and out of the car in last few months?

check out the basics.

Are the fuses OK ? If so, swap relays.

go from there.

The fuse layout for your year is possibly not the same as for my 2002 . So someone else should answer that question.

Fuse location? What a simple question. Why everyone should know it's in....no not in this guide, let me look in the repair manual...no....

I had the same problem with my '97.

However, I found fuse location diagrams in two places.

The owner's manual has fuse locations. Who would have thunk it?

And the big fusebox in the trunk has all of the fuse locations (for the entire car) stenciled on the top.

Relay locations are shown in the electrical guide/wiring diagram book. But fuse locations are not.

Of course, this is for a '97. Your results may differ.

Good luck.

Both relay and fuses are in the engine compartment fuse box. Fuse no 6 & 8 (10A), relay no 5
