Default XK8 headrest inoperative

My 2005 XK8 headrest is in the full up position, I have searched for prior threads on this and am still a little confused. The headrest will retract when I engage the upper seat latch and move the seatback forward. When i return to the upright position, It then goes to the inoperative up position. I do not beleive it requires a cut into the cable sheath.

the threads reference a possible microswitch issue. Any thoughts, opinions etc is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Silver Greek

The well-known 12mm shortening of the headrest cable sheath seems to solve the issue at least 90% of the time. It certainly worked for me (and was the very first repair I had to do to my wife's 2006 XK8 when we acquired it in February 2012)....

Actually the switch began operating yesterday I cab only offer 2 possibilities, 1. The Gremlins decided to jump to an old Alfa Eomero or 2 I just wasn't properly operating the switch. Thanks to all

robak,

There are a couple of videos covering this procedure in the Sticky thread section at the top of the XK8 / XKR forum page. Click on "How To videos", you will see the list of videos available, and look for the ones entitled "XK8 headrest repair".
