Default XK8 just stalled while in idle after 1.5 hr driving

1999 XK8 stalled at a long stop sign after 1.5 hours of driving. Ran rough, then stopped. Towed home. OBD2 code P0102. Cleaned MAF sensor and replaced air filter. Still will not start - doesn't even try?? Any Ideas?
Thanks, pete

Will not start, doesn't even try. Can you be more specific? When turning the key to start, does the engine turn over or no? If no, do you hear anything, any clicking? I am guessing it is turning over, just not firing? If so, check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. If the fuel pump died, then when pressing the shraeder valve there would be little to no fuel that comes out. If the pump is good, and the fuel line and filter is clear, then there would be pressurized fuel at the valve. Have a towel handy. The valve is on the fuel rail in the engine compartment, it looks like a tire valve.

The Schrader Valve on the 1999 XK8 is at the rear of the Right Fuel Rail:

Turned on ignition. Checked Shraeder valve - no petrol -hardly a dribble. (So much for OBD2 code 0102). How does one check for a bad fuel pump or clogged filter, short of removing the filter?

Thanks for the prompt and sanguine assistance.

Sounds like bad news, Pete. If you have someone turn the ignition on while you listen in the trunk you should hear the pump run briefly. The filter should probably be changed if you don't know when it was done. That, at least is inexpensive and while not fun, is at least not as hard as changing the pump.

Does it crank (turn over)? It should do that even if no fuel. If not, you're looking for a lack of power to starter (bad battery, or whatever).
