Default xk8 LED Headlights - Like/Dislike

I have installed "Adamesh" supplied LED headlights. The were defective initially, as the main and dipped beams were wired the wrong way round, but it was a simple fix.

Good points:
  • Easy to fit
  • Look good
  • Don't fog up
Bad points:
  • Plastic lenses
  • Manual adjustment only
  • Because of the plastic lenses, probably no good for Xenons
Anyway, I would appreciate comments.

xenons will actually be cooler than halogens, you'd be surprised. I'd upgrade in a hearbeat if the projector utilizes a suitable cutoff shield. Go for it!

Looks good, i wonder if the quality will withstand longterm UV exposure, or will fade over the years and yellow. Come back and let us know, plz.

I like the headlight part, but not a great fan of the LED strip. H20boy is correct, xenons will be cooler than halogens.

Look great but is the output better than the standard (poor) output ???
I find the standard dipped beam pretty pathetic ,

All the best ,

Nik

I dont mind them and a HID conversion would be simple, they are actually ford focus lights, I have used these in many set ups as they come with built in adjusters, fitting them into a escotcheon to suit the XK is a good idea, there are no headlamp alternatives (I did make up a conversion of sorts myself but just kept it for my track car)

Maybe if they done the LEDs as a continuous strip like the new cars may of been better but I understand why they did it they way they have

I had my MOT on Saturday, the lights did need some minor adjustment, but passed with flying colours. XKRacer is correct, the lights are actually Ford Focus, and are much brighter than the originals on dip and main beam.

I am installing HID conversion this weekend, so I hope this will further improve them. I will take some more pics of the LED's at night.

Next project is changing the seat covers, I just received replacement covers, they look great, I just hope they are not to difficult to install.

With the last three MoT's, my lights have also needed 'minor adjustment'. I've come to the conclusion the tester does this if there's nothing else he can point out on the vehicle!

I put a set of these on my '98 XK-8 before I sold it. I really wasn't happy with them. The LEDs started to act up shortly after I installed them. Did do the HID conversion and it worked fine and there were no isses. The lenses scratched very easily (and buffed out with a lense kit) but I missed the glass so didn't repeat this with the XK-R. Had a Halo light conversion done to it and thought it looked much better.
