I would imagine most will say Mina or Arden, shame you are not in the UK there is a lot more variety and a hell of a lot cheaper.

You can take a look through one of my albums, a lot of the cars there are lowered, click HERE, all I would recommend is go no lower than an inch, unless you don't mind scrapping on a few things

Default Lowering effects on Camber?

So from previous posts some people have trouble with the car being too low and screwing up their camber. What effect do these lowering springs have on alignment? Are you able to compensate and get the alignment back in spec so it doesn't adversely wear the tires?

Default Really Cool

Thanks for the pictures, really cool cars. So which brand do you recommend for the lowering kits and what is their web site or contact info?

Default Thanks for the info

I have no problem ordering from the UK, I just ordered a set of 20" BBS wheels and had them shipped over. Running p285 30r 20 in rear and p255 35r 20 in front.....now just looks odd. I work in the corporate automotive commercial industry and our shop customizes vehicles for commercial shoots, so installing the lowering springs is not a problem, just trying to find the right ones to purchase

I would recommend my own or Adamesh springs, they are cheaper than most, require no settling period and are a direct copy of Arden but half the price.

I have fitted them to many cars and have never had a problem.

I have had Mina springs fitted for over 40K miles now and have no issues. Proper installation with the factory camber bolts in the front and shims in the back are a must. Ride quality is excellent however I originally had 19" wheels and there was hardly any noticeable change in the rider (except for reduced body roll) Only when I fitted the proper 20" wheels is when I noticed a increase in harshness, still very comfortable with a more positive road feel. Word of caution – lowering combined with an under the axle exhaust system gives you about 2.5” of clearance. My car will scrape the exhaust on certain speed bumps, the parking lot where our local Cars and Coffee event is, Lamboghini Gallardos and Murcielagos are fine I just avoid those. Check out some pics in my user profile.

I guess i'll bump this thread

Here are the Mina 1.2" drop springs, they are only 400 after tax and delivery. What say you on this kit? How much should I expect to pay to mount the springs? (200?)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jagua...Q5fAccessories

Will I need to buy anything else to get the ride right?

Thats a 30mm drop, you might have some rubbing issues if you have 20" wheels, but I must admit I love the low look.

Hard for me to say how much to fit but in hours you are looking at 4 and thats with 2 of you doing a side a piece. I charge £500 ($750) supplied and fitted, but I would double your $200 estimate to allow a bit of safety, always a good time to check out the wishbone and damper bushes as well, all these parts have to come off (except the rear dampers, no need to remove them)

thanks for the reply, I called mina gallery yesterday and the guy said about 200-250 ($) for front, then the back. Are shims standard to all cars/ will the alignment shop stock them?

Side note: when I asked if I could just buy the springs over the phone he said sure, and they would take 30 bucks off for skipping ebay. Thats 320$.

Xkracer, ill buy yours if you will fly to california and put them in for me.

I can attest that there is absolutely no rubbing using the Mina springs on a car that is fitted with factory supplied Jaguar 20" wheels, or any comparable wheel with correct offset, and the recommended tire sizes.

Labor - my install was about $750.00 (in the SF bay area $$$ by a reputable shop) but that included a 4 wheel alignment too.

Default Rear Axle Shims when lowered

Okay, so when installing the rear lowering springs what is the typical shim thickness needed to restore camber to spec? I'd like to have them on hand when doing the job, and I presume I'd need to order them but what size to order? You use a specific thickness, and do not stack them right? Stated another way for example; if 2mm is needed can you use two 1mm shims, or must you use a single 2mm only?

You have no idea how tempting that is, I keep saying I do not want to stay in the UK, and California would be the place I would go

It depends how much you are lowering, if you go the standard 1" you should not have to worry about it. If you go lower you can not just guess the amount you would need, as cars do vary. You would need the camber checked using the correct tools/measuring equipment and go from there.

I would do the lot then get a 4 wheel alignment done including camber, track and castor.
