Thank you for the positive reassurance guys. I will let you all know everything the dealer says. I really really really miss my car. Riding the bike gets old because im constantly watching out for other drivers. Even with a pearl white paint job white helmet HID lights people still dont look out for me. It was fun at first but now its more of a worry than anything. Thank you all so much for your help. Hopefully I will hear something by Tuesday or Wednesday.

If by Jaguar he means a dealer, that's BS. Dealers are like every other shop, they only make money when they work on cars. 5 years is not a barrier.

Since it has been 2+ months and no end in sight, it looks like time to have the car moved to a Jag specialist and pay for diagnostics. Then you'll know what you're dealing with and whether or not a legal course of action makes sense.

At the least, you may get your car back running. Someone on the forum should be able to recommend someone in your area.

Thanks I live right down the road so I could at least drive the car back to my place well let it idle home. Then contact my insurance because I have full coverage and hopefully they will be able to tow it to the dealer.

Jag#4 has a good idea.

It's probably best to atleast get your car running first, then take action against that dirtbag mechanic.

Have you had a chance to talk with an attorney? They may have a good idea.

Default My opinion...

Hi, just my opinion but I would contact your attorney and get everything in writing to the mechanic before moving the Jag home or anywhere else.....why because once you move it he will simply start saying that it was fine when it left and that you must have done other things to it.

While it remains with him you are in a much stringer position to take action against him.

I was just thinking about the actual problem. It sounds to me like an entire fuse box is not grounded or connected right. You might get into the fuse boxes and look at all the posts and terminals and see if everything is connected and tight.

BTW, water going in the intake is no problem. Google "water injection".

Wikipedia: "In internal combustion engines, water injection, also known as anti-detonant injection, is spraying water into the incoming air or fuel-air mixture, or directly into the cylinder, in order to cool them. It has been used historically mainly to increase the power output of military aviation engines for short durations such as dogfights or takeoff, however it has also been used notably in drag racing ... Depending on the engine, improvements in power and fuel efficiency can also be obtained solely by injecting water."

I flew Cessnas that had the intake right out front and I would get a lot of water in the intake flying IFR in rain. No problems.

hey guys sorry I have been away for a while. I have a huge pc hobby and built a really sick rig. The car is still not fixed. The guy did have it towed to Jaguar and they told me over the phone they wouldn't touch the car. they said too many things had been altered and they wouldn't even look at it. There is a guy named Michael Sachs who is the last hope for the car and he is going to be getting the car tomorrow. The shop owner who replaced the engine told me he will tow it over there. I am not paying anything more out of pocket because this is now his concern. I just pray that the man has enough patience to fix the car. I miss my car. I haven't had it all year. hopefully I will hear something this week.

Sorry to hear that.
My best friend is an attorney and she said get to one NOW and start the necessary actions. Also she said be sure to print this thread off since it is good proof of the problems you've had and how you've had to do most of the diagnostic work as well as physical testing with no help from the mechanic. It shows a good line of dates of issues.
She said she wishes she was close enough to represent you because you'd at least get a replacement car of the same value when you took it to him! She drives a 96 XJS!

Did you pay for any of this with a credit card? If so, call them and see what they can do? This is why I don't pay for anything until its done! If the engine was from a junkyard, pay for that part, but screw this guy on his labor!!

My brother in law got screwed at a trans rebuild shop. He took the trans apart again and reassembled, and still was messed up. My brother in law got sick of the excuses and delays, and towed the car out of there. INSIDE the car the shop left an expensive snap -on scanner. I told him to hold it hostage for money back, or sell it, But like an idiot he gave it back to the guy. Grrrr. My brother in law had me install a used trans at my house. the state required the old trans to be taken apart and cause of fault found before they'd go after the shop. The shop closed shortly after anyway. They got nothing. $2500 loss and all that delay and agrevation.

I got to say "I told you so" though. They went there because they would get a guarantee on the rebuilt trans..

Like Tommy Boy said: "I could take a sh*t in a box and slap a guarantee on it."

Bob N,

Who were you referring to?

Sounds like useful info if having problem with a business - mechanic... good to know about.

Thanks

Sandy

I've used their service here in Nebraska a couple of times. Luckily I live in Lincoln so can visit the office personally. They can some times help with a problem like yours.

They don't take any legal action unless they would find something illegal going on. What they will usually do, after getting your side of the story, is send a letter to the business about the problem you are having with them and let the business explain what their side is and if they have plans to take care of it. Many times that's all it takes since most businesses don't really want the State Attorney General looking at them for any reason.

Well there was a light at the end of the tunnel. Michael sachs knows jaguars like no other in jax and the car is running. He said he will make sure everything is perfect before he gives it back. All the pins to one of the wiring harnesses were bent. I think a 58 pin one. He replaced the harness and the only error coming up now is alternator not charging. He checked it though and said its putting out 14.1 volts. He said hopefully he will have it done tomorrow. This great news has brought tears to my eyes. The shop that installed the engine is going to have to cover this since it was there mishap. Im going to go up there and tell him.
