Default Xk8 not responding

Hi, I've never been on a forum before so please forgive me if I make any daft mistakes. I have a XK8 2000, it has been stood in my garage for about 18 months with very little fuel, when I started it, it had developed a miss fire so I replaced a couple of coil packs, having done that it now doesn't respond as it should when I depress the accelerator, it will rev but it is delayed by a second or so. Can any body help me please?

Welcome to the forum Ashfieldbuilders,

I've copied your question from New Member Area to XK8/XKR to get advice from members with the same model.

just a quick thought but as i work as a fitter on lawnmowers etc because they stand for 6 months usualy it is because the fuel in them has gone stale silly i know but it happens it tends to just go sticky try draining as much as you can and topping up

Besides adding fresh fuel, change the fuel filter and clean the throttle body.

The engine revs are limited to about 3000 RPM unless the Transmission is in Drive.

It is a fuel additive but not one you can get at all auto parts places. Most often available at your better repair shops.

Chris,

It's a US product:

BG 44K | 44K BG | Power Enhancer | Fuel System Cleaner | 44K Fuel | 44K Power Enhancer | BG44K Suppliers : BG Products

Available direct from the UK distributor:

Power Enhancer | BG44k | Petrol Engine Cleaners | Fuel Injector Cleaner

And also from Amazon UK:

BG 44K Power Enhancer Fuel System Cleaner - Free Delivery: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike BG 44K Power Enhancer Fuel System Cleaner - Free Delivery: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

I've never used it but there's plenty of good reports from US members.

Graham
