Default XK8 rear parking sensor module

I am trying to find the rear parking sensor control module box. I thought that it was supposed to be in the boot (trunk) but I cannot see it. Perhaps I should look again more closely.

In the meantime is there anywhere else the module may be hidden? It is a 2003 XK8.

I have an intermittent fault on the sensors when in reverse so thought I would start with the wiring.

What is the module in the boot at the back next to the spare wheel?

The Electrical Guide CLEARLY states in section 19.1 that the module is in the (trunk) spare wheel well.

You NEED the Electrical Guide if you are going to repair your car properly.

Ok thanks for the advice. I will have to take another look in there, must have missed it the first time somehow.

According to the workshop manual, it lives in the rear fuse box behind the battery.

Actually it depends on model year. I believe on the 4.0 cars it is in the wheel well, and on the 4.2 cars it is in the trunk fusebox.

It is a 4.2 so that also explains me missing it first time.

On my 4.0 it's next to the spare wheel. The space in the fuse box appears to be a holder for a spare CD magazine - I keep my obd reader in there.

What failure mode do you have? Does the warning sound when it should not, or fail to sound when it should?

I had a fault of the first type, which ended up being a bad sensor. The two outboard sensors are easy to get at; the inboard ones require (I think) dropping the bumper. Lucky me, it was an outboard one. Found a replacement sensor on EBay.

Thanks for posting this (albeit quite a while back), saved me a lot of hunting around this morning. Fingers crossed the spare I have will cure the problems with my 4.2S. Cheers. Mark
