XK8 seat back release knob and escutcheon
Greetings, I am at the beginning of reupholstering my front seats. On one side the seat back release trim escutcheon and knob were already damaged. Even though I could see how they should come off I destroyed both attempting to remove them from the other seat. Vicky at Terry's Jag tells me these are unavailable. Does anybody have these items or know from where they can be obtained? Escutcheon: GJA4762AA + color code Knob: GJA4760AB + color code. In my case the color is creme (NDR)
Thanks for your time and assistance. Regards, Ken

Funny that you should 'post this', mine just broke about a week ago. I have looked at most of the better known Jag Part's locations in the US. The Part# as far as the plate is supposedly no longer available (though I am looking for Charcoal). I did not even see them on UK EBay (and they have everything). I am going to try and find the Drivers Side (LH) at the local Junk Yard. Let me know if you find anything and I will also let you know if I find anything...

Let's see if this flies or not, I tried to order them about a year ago from Barratt and I was told they were no longer available.
Thanks for the info, I will let you know if the Order is accepted and ships or not... Bill M

XK8 seat back release knob and escutcheon
Greetings, Some time back I inquired of SNG Barrett and they were unable to supply either the escutcheon or the release knob. Based on the suggestion from IndelXK8 I inquired again only to be advised that the parts are not available. I have solved the problem by precisely reverse engineering the escutcheon and then having it 3D printed in high temperature nylon. I still need to do some surface prep and painting but they are a perfect fit. I had the "press fit" mounting holes made slightly oversize with the intentional purpose of apply a weak adhesive so they would be easily removable if that is ever necessary. Regardless, I sincerely wish to thank IndelXK8 for the kind consideration in sharing the possible source with me. I appreciate you taking the time! Warm regards, Ken

Order on Barratt for the Escutcheon Plate was kicked back, due to Jaguar no longer having the part available. This is what I had learned before. I just wanted to check again, based on IndelXK8's recent input.
I'll just keep trying the Salvage Yards. But thanks to Colquan1066 for the original thread, followup and to IndelXK8 for his effort also...

Just push/pull, at least on MY 01/02. There is essentially a plastic pressure detent against the metal lever. Putting on should be easy. If you need to take a new one off, you may want a plastic trim removal tool with a fork.

My car is a 99 convertible. It looks like the part I sourced is not exact OE for my year so it looks like a bit of innovation is going to be called for. The metal lever appears to be completely smooth.
