Default xk8 supercharger?

isn't there a company that makes a simple centrifugal or twin screw supercharger for the xk8? you know the vortech or procharger that you can change the fuel injectors, exhaust, and throw on a cold air induction and the supercharger and you're set. Or maybe there is another way to get some power out of this motor, short of selling the car and buying an xkr.

This has come up a few times before and the conclusion has always been that, cost wise, you would be ahead to just get an XKR of a similar year.

The R has a number of differences in the engine and electronics to make it compatible with forced induction and also give it a fair bit of capacity to make more power than stock with the right mods.

What you suggest would certainly be possible but won't come as a kit like a mustang. You'd have to invent most of it and I suspect you would spend a lot of time, effort and money to just match the power of the stock R model.

If you're looking for more power, the XK8 is a great platform for the manual transmission and LT crate motor upgrade.

Jaguar V8 Kit

If you don't want to go that route, you can get an XKR. There's updated cats, a number of different exhaust options, pulley upgrades, twin screw upgrade...

I bought an XK8 and wanted more too. I ended up buying an XKR. It was the right decision for me. I've upgraded my complete exhaust system. I have a OS Giken LSD on my way right now, and as soon as that and a few other issues are sorted, I'll be upgrading my supercharger... already purchased it, but it'll be sometime in spring when I'm finished.

Why not be different......

The problem you have is because the XKR exists, the power mods are done and there is not a lot of scope for improvement, so why buy an 8 when for a few grand more you could have an R.

This why there are loads of things you can do with an R as you are trying to improve on what is already there.

So getting back to my "why not be different"..... Remove the cats further down stream and stick 2 turbos in, you will have to lower the compression and fit larger injectors.... That would be impressive

The other route is to bin the engine and go the LS1, plenty of mods for those

The LS1 conversion does look very attractive. I just don't know if I'm ready for that big of a project. My car only has 65000 miles but I can see myself doing the Ls1 and 6 speed swap down the road. I've had cars with superchargers but I've never had any turbos. I don't really know anything about them but they seem much more complicated than superchargers.
