My 1996 XK8 has the optional “foldback” mirrors. Although the switch makes both mirrors fold in and out as they should, the mirrors themselves do not adjust in either plane on either side of the car. I purchased a replacement secondhand switch from a specialist Jaguar dismantler. This switch caused the mirrors to operate in a reversal to my original switch: both mirrors could be adjusted in both planes; but the foldback function did not work.
Were different switches made for cars with and without folding mirrors? If yes, this seems an unnecessary expense on the part of the manufacturer.
I may add that my original switch and the replacement had identical connectors.
Any thoughts?
