Default XKR 2001 no power to the CD multichanger in the boot.

Hi All,
Have owned the 2001 XKR for three years. Has issues with the CD player intermittently working in first 6 months. Got a 2nd hand replacement unit but appears to be no power coming through. Or the CD button on the Head unit in the dashboard doesn’t work.
Any suggestions?
Are there any hidden inline fuses I could check?

As I recall, connecting the cord, therefore the power, will produce noise from the changer as it cycles and reads cds.

Have you tried this with both units?

This could eliminate no power as root cause.

Hi John,
Thanks for quick reply. I have had both units in and out a few times, plugged and unplugged them with ignition on and off to check but they make no sound 😟
Thanks Vince

Then I'd check for voltage (12v) on the male side of the connection in the trunk.

We do have a pinout diagram on the site here. As I recall Lady Penelope posted it. Just remembered I posted a copy of it last week or 2.

Default No separate fuse for CD player

Do you have the premium sound system with an Amp above the CD player.

A fellow forum member, Ryan B, has all sorts of problems with his music system.

As far as I know there’s no separate fuse for the CD changer but I recollect it’s powered from the radio deck unit. So if the radio works, it’s a bad connection from the radio to the CD changer.

Not it sure what the pin layout is in the DIN socket but try search function for it.

Default No Amp above the CD unit

Radio works well, elec arial works, cassette player also works well. Agreed sounds like a connection issue from front to back. Put a new earth strap on from a new battery to chassis. So sure that is good. Old built in telephone had been removed before I owned it. Haven’t had the dash or centre consul out yet.

Here's the pinout. Find voltage = defective unit. No volts focus the hunt for failure point.
