XKR/8, never closing ashtray repair here!
As I am still struggling with new roof latch hoses installation, here is what else I found:
1. Internal plastic quality is awful. Maybe it is my Florida overheated car, or just bad luck, but whole bunch of plastic brackets and little fittings keep cracking and falling apart. It very much reminds me of Italian molding, where plastic quality is much lesser than the size of "Made in Italy" on every little part.
Radio / climate retaining bracket fell apart in 3 places, so I had to JBWeld the crap out of it. Same happened to little plastic that holds Roof Control switch, Shift Mode switch was already JBWelded, before me.
2. I found cure for never closing ashtray! Please see the attached pictures, it is self explanatory. However, I will mention that metal pin I made out of old injector plug retainer, it had a perfect gage and rigidity. I bent it at 90 degrees and moded it into the side of plastic, covering everything, but working area with JB Quick. Result is working ashtray lock!
