XKR A/C Suction hose

XKR A/C Suction hose
Finally found and repaired the A/C leak in my 01 XKR. Sensors and dyes nor stop leak did no good. I was about to remove the evaporator (major job) as I would get a squeal in the area of the firewall port. Decided to pull a vacuum on it first. In setting up and adapting to do so the hoses had to be forced out of the way. Vacuum held as did a test on the rest of the system. Another recharge. Wouldn't hold but a puddle of dye/ stopleak appeared on the floor. Suction hose crossing at rear of engine had a burn spot where it was up against the EGR pipe. Although the pipe is pretty well protected I believe the hose was routed on the wrong side of the pseudo transmission filler tube forcing it against the EGR Tube. I attempted to remove the hose assembly for repair I found that no amount of parts removal will allow it to be removed, I can see no way other than engine removal. I had a lot of stuff off the rear of the engine and could get access to cut the damaged area of the 5/8 ID rubber hose, it is just low pressure. Repaired by splicing in a 3/8 brass pipe nipple and high pressure clamps. Nipple has to be long enough to retain critical length of the hose. I slept well last night and will sleep even better tonight as the A/C is still working. Good thing I have lots of tools and patience as nothing on these cars is easily accesable.
