Just got a 2004 XKR convertible....audio question?

How can I tell if my audio is Alpine base or premium?
There are 2 speakers in the rear 1/4 sections, 2 in the doors and 2 tweeters in the door corners......there are 2 grills on the dashtop which appear to do nothing.

If the system is base, can I upgrade to premium and what advantage will I gain?
Any alternative speakers suggested for better quality sound?

Slightly off topic..there is a mesh on n/s windscreen pillar and another on n/s door post...what is the purpose/function please?

Anyone sell me a copy of a more up to date UK nav disc?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated by this novice )

Welcome!

Have a peek behind the carpet wall over the CD and Nav DVD players. If there is a third device in the equipment 'stack' it is the premium audio amp.

The mesh screens are ultrasonic occupancy sensors for the passenger seat airbag.

Bad news on the navigation...Jaguar dropped the ball on this system and there are no further map updates. Either live with it, retrofit another nav. system, or drop the navigation and convert to the 3-gauges.

 

Thank you white XKR...spot on! only 2 in the stack, so I have a basic Alpine audio.

Can I upgrade to Premium? If I can get the info, I will get an 'audio shop' to do it as I have 2 left hands LOL technically useless...should there be 2 speakers in the dash top? looks like speaker grills.
If the conversion is not practical, any suggestion on how to improve sound and/or bass please?
