I can get you some back box bypass pipes with copy quad pipes cost you around $500, seems a lot cheaper than what you have been quoted.

Oh, I'm not getting the bumper, but I'm taking delivery of the quad pipes on Monday. I'll take a look and see how the fit looks and go from there. If it looks like they'll work with the openings, I'll put them away for now and use them when the rear mufflers I have now burn out and get replaced. Might be awhile, but I'll check with you then!

Might be a LONG while, Skid...I've got the original system on my 1997, and it's showing no signs of trouble whatsoever. If you're going to wait for your back boxes to burn out, you might be driving a classic before you get those tips on.

I will definitely be replacing my entire system, from the manifolds back, but later (after other priorities are addressed).

They are already classics in my book!

Unless...Would the XKR quads would reduce the highway harmonic problem associated with rear straight pipes since the quads are quieter?

I could just eliminate the back boxes and run a straight pipe thru that area to the quads and not make any other alterations to the exhaust system.

Seems a simple solution!

heh, it's been a long time since I looked at those. I'm not sure that they would fit in the bumper cutout. they do sound cool though. at least I thought they were cool when I was 19 and had a really loud exhaust that would set off car alarms.

I saw one that might fit in the cutout if you turned it sideways and pushed.

I know where you can get a straight through pipe with a quad set up, the amount of sound difference is negligable, but yes they do sound a bit quieter. Not good enough to work instead of a resonator box!

You were right, and I started another thread about the installation today!
