Smile XKR Suspension (?) Setting Factors???

Hi - New owner - 2002 XKR (I love it!) - You will discover my newbieishness quickly! (30K Miles)

Can anyone explain how the automatic suspension changes settings? I have a very stiff (rough) (harsh) ride when I start out in the AM, but it quickly turns into a much softer (more forgiving) (much less street bumps) machine as the engine warms up. This is San Francisco - not exactly the frozen East or Mid-West or North - overnight temps in the 40's at the most extreme!

Could it also be cold tires? Pirelli's with still about 1/2 tread left.

Thanks for your help and patience - I'm learning to be a good owner! Dale
