Default Rear Rotor Replacements

My mechanic says its time to change the rear rotors on my 2011 XKR. I have found many different options, but want to get the ones most like the oem. On auto parts warehouse there are a set of Centric and a set of EBC. There is a large price difference. I am not worried about the $, but want the pair which will be most likely to perform like the oem. I will not be changing the fronts, as they are not needed at this time. Thanks in advance.

OE are not ceramic.

Rears are not used much so get anything that's adequate. (Fronts really matter, in comparison. Feel how hard braking tries to shift you forward....)

I'll be watching this thread as I am curious as to why you would need new rotors. How many miles are on the car and are your rotors scored or damaged . Did the mechanic measure them for spec. thickness and run out. Is this the OEM brake pads meaning the original ones on the car or had they been replaced. Please keep us informed on what is discovered and replaced.

The car had 50k miles when I bought it. Yes the rotors were measured. My mechanic said that there are grooves on the rotors from heavy breaking. I have had squeek issues that drive me nuts. So he suggested new pads/rotors. (Pads need to be replaced either way) I am not worried about my mechanic trying to gauge me, he is a personal friend.

With it just being rears, I would go with the least expensive option. Centric or EBC both appear to be ground finish not a hard turn, which is a positive. There is no reason either one of those rears won't last you a good long time.

I agree, we just replaced the rotors our 2007 Jaguar XK and put the least expensive ones on the rear. They were still pricey but they work great. We went with the really good ones upfront and overall it runs excellent.

On both my 2009 XK, and on 2011 XKR, I installed Cequence rotors and EBC pads - really excellent stopping power and zero squeaks. Cequence has great service and prices (no, I don't work for them, just a pleased customer).
