Default XKR VS XK8 4.0l engine Fuel pump position

Recently someone with a 4liter XKR posted wonderful photos of the fuel pump position, including a ruler. Now I don't know about you,but when my XK8 fuel pump fails, I'll be drilling that hole for easy access. Its gonna happen sometime, just wa t to be prepared.

Here's my question: since the XKR uses 2 fuel pumps, are either of them
in the same position as the 1 pump in the XK8?

So before I, or anyone else, uses those great photos for dead reckoning I wanted to check. Thanks.

John

I made a cut out on my 97, it's the same place. I believe the XKR fuel tank access port is the same location as the XK8. If you do a google search you'll find other articles dealing with making a hole in the parcel shelf.

The SINGLE PUMP tanks are pretty much the same as the twin pump tanks. The twin pumps just have another place in the sump area for a second pump to be secured with a screw to the top area of the sump sheet metal.

I thought about installing a second pump and a SC EVAP flange and harness so that I could install a second (redundant) pump in my normally aspirated XJ8 in case of a failure but the pumps last 10 years or 100K miles so 'meh'.

The fuel tanks changed from 2001MY onward. The level sensors, EVAP Flange and pump harnesses are different.
Be sure you understand 'what-fits-with-what'.
