Default XKR vs XK8 Speaker Upgrade

Did the full speaker and amp upgrade in my '97, now beginning planning to do it for my '04 XKR (Alpine). Any differences I should be worried about?

2 different systems for one thing, one is Alpine and I forget the early manufacturer believe the ohms on the speakers are different based on what I have read here and elsewhere.

I'm almost there with my '04 - fitted an Alpine 5-channel MRP-F320 amp (40W RMS x4 + 140W RMS x1) and Infinity reference speakers, just got the sub to install and connect, then balance the whole lot up. I used 16.5cm 2-way component speakers at the front, with the tweeters in the dash, and co-axial's in the rear. The sub is an infinity 8" unit.
A nice surprise was finding all the wiring to the tweeter positions already connected, so I simply installed the crossovers for the front speakers in the centre console, breaking in at the nig yellow plug to route the head unit outputs under the rear seat and into the boot where I mounted the amp above the cd changer. Heavier cables then return from the amp to the yellow plug, feeding back to the speakers. Don't worry about the longer cable runs, the infinity units are 2 ohm so the amp probably sees around 3 ohm allowing for cabling.
How does it sound? So far so good - a bit bright on the treble maybe, but overall a dramatic improvement and it'll be better still with the sub.

nice, the sub will balance your highs surely, did the crossovers have a switch for attenuating the tweeters for that very purpose of over/under level of highs with various placement options.?

What size are the rear speakers? My 1998 XK8 are blown and sound sick. Can you switch to another brand other than OEM. What is the cheapest way to go.

For the back Subs in my '97 XK8 convertible I bought two Kicker model 10CVT654 shallow mount subs. You have to do a little trimming to get them to fit where the stock subs were but the difference is amazing. They were $55 each. Thse are 6.5".

Is this on the same 1998 XK8 that doesn't have any keys or remotes?
