Default XKR wheel caps on ebay, please help verify.

I noticed I'm missing a wheel cap today (Sepangs).

Can someone verify that these are OEM, found them on ebay. Perhaps one of you have already bought replacements and know what to look (look out) for.

4 NEW JAGUAR S TYPE X TYPE XJ8 XK8 XKR WHEEL CENTER CAP GREEN | eBay

I'm in the Atlanta area, so I have access to other parts in town...Nalley and Coventry West but thought I might start looking on ebay.

Thanks!

These will fit, but they are later model ones. The earlier XK ones have sort of a translucent plastic (jeweled) surface. Choose whichever you like better.

I bought a new set like your photo from Steve at:

SB Wheels,

He has original wheel caps and ships anywhere not to mention great prices.

cheers,

Those are the correct style caps for 2005 Sepangs, but they should be black, not green.

On a 2005 model the ebay ones are probably correct, they started changing them around that time.

As to green or black I am unsure, I have a set in red going cheap

I bought replacement caps for my 2004 XKR on Ebay last year from another seller (britishpartsplace). They fit great and look like the one's currently on sale- except the green isn't quite so vibrant. Don't know if that's just the digital camera photo in your sale or what. Sometimes certain digital cameras will really accentuate the colors.

After looking at the ones on SBWheels, the earlier ones look much nicer. I'd "downgrade" to those if I had to do it again.

My '06 Sepangs have green "growler" caps.

I think the earlier style caps look better too, but they don't seem t fit as well. They are almost too small, and tend to break on installation. I bought a new set of the old style ones, and broke 3 of the 4 trying to get them on.

The later "painted" looking ones fit the wheels much nicer.

Like mountaincat, I have recessed green caps on my Sepangs. The correct one for the Sepang is the black domed pattern:

As other have remarked, the caps are a tight fit and it's very easy to break one of the four tabs when fitting or removing them. Almost a service item

I thought wheel cap color depended on the color of the car and the color of the bonnet/hood medallion more than the type of wheel? Not true?

I have an emerald green medallion, with matching wheel caps on my light blue car.

I have seen black medallions and red medallions.

cheers,

jj

JJ,

The originals on my Sepangs were the black type in the photo in my earlier post. They were generally very scruffy and one had a broken lug. The only ones the dealer (Stratstone) had in stock at the time were green or red so I chose green.

In the old days XK8s had green XKRs had red, it was other models that had different coloured wheel centres.

I must admit I tend to fit the ones GGG posted up, slightly raised on the Growler head a much better looking centre than the flat painted type...... I have seen those in different colours, I nice set in red would make me happy

However the quality is not the best, the plastic lasts longer but the Growler suffers with road salts and goes kinda mosaic

I saw a black 2000 XKR that had the red hood badge and red center caps and they looked fantastic on it, better than green would IMHO. OTOH my car, being silver, has the green badge and green center caps on it, which I think looks better than the red would.

Yes. The green caps look good on my Frost Blue 2005 car. My last XK8 was Pacific Blue and had red caps which suited the darker colour.

XKRacer's right about the black ones being less resilient. The originals on mine looked as if the'd been wire brushed.

I've never seen the black ones. That would look good with just about any color, I think. Wonder why they don't hold up. Do they still make them?

Only prob with that is the red bumper badge has Supercharged written on it, they never did a generic red type

Here's a collection of all the X100 front badges

That's a suspiciously large collection

What did the second from left on the top row with the '100' go on - some special edition?
