Year 2000 XKR Engine number location
Hi all.
Does anyone have a definitive photo or video showing the exact location of the engine number on this year vehicle.
I know what the engine number is, I just have to show it to the local roads authority on Monday so I can transfer the registration from another state to mine.
I have searched this forum and the net.
I can find bits and pieces and vague references but no definitive big picture and close ups of where it is.
I understand its on the front LHS somewhere maybe half way down the block under all the paraphernalia.
I have access to a flex camera
Pete

Pete,
The engine number (10 digits) is stamped on a raised pad on the front of the engine block near the thermostat housing. The 8 digit number next to it is the piston grade.
I don't have a video but do have a diagram:
XK8 - Engine Number.pdf
The location changed to left side near the engine mount bracket in later Model Years. I think this happened with the introduction of the 4.2 litre but am not certain.

Thanks T and G
It sometimes depends on who you get on the day at Vicroads.
Some people are happy to accept just a sighting of the VIN ( Chassis number plate ) which of itself is hard to see in the corner of the spare wheel well , and also accept that there has never been an engine swap , and others will actually ask to sight the engine number also. Victoria , Australia can be fairly tough in it's licensing and registration laws but them's the breaks.
An attitude of " How can I help sir/madam " usually goes a long way to getting something over the line.
