Default "Your car is solid" - Jag mechanic

Dropped my car off this morning at Jaguar of Sac for an inspection and test drive - I specifically wanted to know what services I should perform AT THE DEALERSHIP given the test drive and the feel of the car.

Believe it or not, I was told there is NOTHING wrong with my car other than a little oil left over from when they changed camshaft gaskets.

Brakes look good
No sounds from suspension
Engine freakin growls and gives that WOW response
it's just a little worn, which is expected after 10 years and 94000.

I see so much misery over the little things that can and do go wrong - and understand since we all want answers...

Just thought I'd let y'all know that there is light at the end of the tunnel...

and I'm so very glad I didn't go BMW, MB, Audi, Lexus, porsche...
This car is simply way too flippin cool...

Cheers

DJ

Excellent! Always good to know things are working and glad to hear more success stories on the forum. Some days it seems like everybody's car is broken, which is certainly not true.

Enjoy.

I recently got the same diagnosis (knock on that beautiful wood). Isn't it a great feeling? Soak it up while it lasts and keep it that way!

My car needs attention quick. The right front tire is going bald on the outside edge, the left front is close behind. My right front rim needs a new trim ring as it's almost demolished. My diff or something in the rear end is making a knuckle or neck crackling noise at moderate acceleration right at takeoff. I've experienced one or two weird common tranny growl/grunts. Luckily I'm taking it in for a full service fluid change including tranny and filter. I'm installing the OS Giken LSD, bosch intercooler pump and installing an ipod adapter.

And Avos Twin Screw kit is in the mail and I have a tracking number. So that'll be the next project...

Enjoy. Hope it stays solid for you for years to come. But always remember that this forum remains the most important tool in your XK8 tool box....

Default Thanks all

Found the source of annoying rattle which I thought was related to the suspension...

The rear view mirror is loose.

and then found the solution at Jagrepair.com
JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource
