I put two wide strips of butyl tape across the top off the new evaporator since the original, form fitted, thin foam couldn’t be removed without ruining it.

Something I didn’t know would be an issue was needing repair. If you look closely in the picture of the underside of the dashboard, there’s a gap where there’s glue going from one side to the dash to the other. That glue is for holding the defroster duct to the dashboard. I didn’t want to spend another day researching what glue I should use, stripping the dashboard completely down, obtaining countless clamps to hold it in place and drying time so I just skipped this. If I feel sporty enough some

The hardest part of this job by far was the steering column. It’s those two clips just under the IP that are a SOB to get right and trying to get the bottom of the column mounted up and the steering coupler. Without looking at the manual, I’m sure the proper method is to drop the steering rack down a bit, go back inside the car and push the coupler down a bit and then fasten the steering column to the brackets and then reinstall the rack. I ended up cutting the top of the clips off and it worked

All 4 of those bolts that hold that lid down have these thick washers which are the same as the ones on your valve cover bolts. The part number is: NCA2575CA
It sounds like the bolt seal washers (pictured above) are just done for. They help apply downward pressure on the lid. I’d replace those next.

I’m going to go out on a limb here. Find this connector on the firewall. Unbolt it and take the 2 halves apart.

I myself have smashed a pin or two down upon reinstalling. Make sure the pins are all straight and clean.

The other thing that comes to mind is if the flywheel (or flex plate) was installed properly. I have seen one other car come into the shop that wouldn’t run and the careless tech had tightened the flywheel up after not having it clocked properly on the dowel.

Last thing. When the intake camshafts were removed, were they marked for A.bank and B bank and put back in the correct heads?

The drivers side won’t retract. This is what it looks like in the up position. This is just a manual spring loaded spool. I’ve always wondered what that squarish piece in the roof was all about.

I’ve done a search on here and couldn’t find another post about these. Hens teeth?? This is on my recently acquired 03’ Super V8 from Wisconsin and no rust on the body.
