Default Tassie visit in March

We will be visiting Tassie in March in our Jag (Plan A at least). If anyone wants to meet up between 16-21 March we would be happy to share a coffee , drink, lunch or whatever.

Hi Steve,

I'm not planning on being in Tassie at that time, but I do know that the vintage Delage Club 'Le Grand Rallye de Tasmania' is being run during 14 - 21 March.

I don't have their itinerary at hand, but you won't miss one of those cars if it is in the area

Cheers,

Nigel

Thanks for the tip, would be worth a look if they are in the area. We had first thought of going at Targa Tasmania time, but other aspects of life have gotten in the way of that so March it is for a short visit.

Back from our run in Tassie. The Delages that Nigel mentioned were pretty obvious in the queue for the boat as we came back on the 21st.

Spent all of the time in the North East. Great roads down there, especially enjoyed the Scottsdale > St Helens run. Its about 100kms of undulating winding road that includes 3 stages of Targa Tasmania. Link here if Targa means nothing to you https://targa.com.au/tc/

We stayed in a house on the coast only about 50 metres from the sea and lots of salt spray. You could almost hear the Jag rusting :-) Must get out and give it a good wash and hose off.

PS: Elinor's prediction that I was tempting the gods talking about good luck with the car came true. On departure I only got 10klms before the fan belt broke. Just what you want with a fixed time window to load onto a car ferry :-)

Any attempt at provoking "luck" will be interfered with by Mr Murphy. One of life's little certainties unless you're related to a benevolent Leprechaun.

I bet you now have a spare in the boot (fan belt that is, not the Leprechaun)

Looks like you had some good weather at least!

I had 3 in the boot at the time, its the only reason we made the boat :-)
I think only only need 2 (3 belts, 2 the same size)

I will have to stop being slack (pun unintended) and take belts off to check them. The one that failed looked OK in a before leaving checkover the week before.

Yes we scored some nice weather, its a nice time of year down there.

Hey Steve

When I picked up my XKR from Deloraine last April , the Scottsdale - St Helens run was the first chance I had to test it out

I should have done them I got the car. Did fluids and filters routine , should have ditched the belts just due to unknown age if nothing else. Still learning :-)
