I can't pump gas in my car
I have a 2005 Jaguar W Type 3.0 which gives me problems when I try to pump gas. The pump nozzle won't stay on - keeps clicking off and won't let the gas flow steadily into the tank. Never ever had this problem with another car. Can't figure if it's something I'm doing wrong or not. Has anyone had this problem?

Take q look at the opening in front of the filler (after you open the filler door). Notice that there is a holder for your gas cap on the side facing the front, so the cap doesn't just hang there.
Now, look towards the back of the car. Notice that there is a rectangular indentation at 9 o'clock in the opening.
Hold the nozzle so that the base is in the notch!
That's all there is to it!
Upside: no gas will drip from the nozzle when you are done filling. Downside: you have to hold the nozzle there, although the stops will work.

I've had the issue with my Jag a couple times as well. It's the angle the filler is at. For one when setting the stream of fuel set it to the lowest setting on the pump handle. Yes you may have to stand there an extra minute but hey at least you get a full tank. Also you may find pulling the handle out of the hole a couple inches will allow it to work also.

That 'sideways nozzle' thing is by design...there is a method to the madness! Hardly anybody uses the system that way, but try it, you'll be surprised.
Three things are affected by the sideways fill; first, the purge flap is designed to keep the gas fumes in the tank, and allow air OUT while you are filling; holding the port open or holding the filler neck out allows air to mix with the gasoline; this can actually cause a big bubble on the off-side of the fuel tank. That bubble can cause the CCV to stick open.
That will keep you from getting a full tank, and depending on where it is, can actually throw the P0456, when you open the cap, you effectively 'burp' the tank.
The third is that you won't get that last drop falling on your finish after you pump.
Denso designed the system, it is used on some Cadillacs and some Mopar diesel pick-ups, too.
If you just smash the nozzle in there like we do on most cars, eventually the hole will hog out and it will work, but that is not actually how it was designed.
Most manufacturers (Jaguar included) don't use it as designed, heck, there have been TSBs from different marques on how to 'correct' it !

I should probably mention that there is a 'vent' on the charcoal canister that will allow the tank to 'breathe' with the filler neck in the 'usual' position...which is why only some of the cars have this problem.
You can "fix" it by replacing the canister, but you can still slam the gas in faster using the sideways trick.
