Swap is Complete -- Lincoln LS Engine in My X-type Jag.
#61
Thank you for your post *****. I have an 04 X-type 3.0, and I'm trying to find an LS engine that's compatible with my x-type. I'm having a hard time finding info out there and was hoping you could tell me what else I should look for, aside from just an LS 3.0 engine? I found some 3.0 LS engines out there, but I'm not finding any cross reference information and was hoping you can help out. Will the LS work for an 04 X-type, and what years?

The original poster did it to an '02 2.5 and there was no change to the engines in those years. Hell, they didn't change a whole lot other than the transfer case the entire model run of the cars. So, if you would want to take on what the original poster did, knock yourself out.
There is/was a member on here called Dr. Dome who parted out X-Types. Haven't seen much of him on here the last few months, but you might want to contact him and see if he would have a used engine.
Good luck!

@Clayton =
A more powerful 232 hp version for the 2000-’05 Lincoln LS, Jaguar AJ30 and S-Type, Mazda 6 and MPV, and 2005 Ford Five Hundred, Mercury Montego and Ford Freestyle with direct-acting mechanical bucket tappets.
• A Variable Valve Timing (VVT) with electronic throttle control for the 2003-’06 Lincoln LS, 2003-’06 Jaguar X-Type applications, 2006 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr, and 2009 Ford Escape.
On the 2009 Fusion, a new type of VVT system called “Cam Torque Actuated” (CTA) is used to advance cam timing.
The cam phaser generates its own internal pressure rather than relying on oil pump pressure to move the cams. The result is more advance (47°) and better fuel economy

I’m about to do this swap with a 05 LS with 54K, does anyone know the torque specs for the cam? Also how is the cam sealed at the end where it sticks out for the water pump? Trying to gather parts before I do this. I bought a head gasket set and lower seal set from felpro. Using all but the head gaskets and valve stem seals.

Help me Obi-wan, How to you guys get this water outlet out of the LS engine? The only way I can see is to remove cylinder head that is covering the bolt. I used blaydes99’s photo to give you guys an idea of what I’m talking about. I need that bolt off to be able to switch the coolant pipe from the Jaguar that is completely different than the Lincoln one.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Appetite for destruction, Lol. That low profile Snap On swivel looks pretty handy. I've had the upper and lower manifolds off my car for a couple days to R&R the coil packs and plugs, and I found the knock sensor down there, but couldn't get it out to replace it bc of that elbow that runs over the top of it. The one you are swapping over to the LS motor. The flange having two bolts, one you can see, and the other that looks about impossible to get to. I didn't want to drain the coolant and get into tearing apart that steel water line from the water pump to the engine, so I left the old knock sensor in place and cut the harness off. Then I installed the new KS about 6" away from the old one. Was able to do this bc there is a bolt there that appears to hold a cover plate on the block. Anyway, a little off topic to what you're doing, but wanted to chime in. I didn't think of it, found this tip on the forums.

So, I take it that I should replace the knock sensor while it’s out? I’ve seen a few posts about bad knock sensors and now that you bring it up this would be the time to swap it. Also does anyone know if I can leave the a/c system intact and remove the engine? My a/c is fully charged. Don’t want to vent to atmosphere...
