Low Engine Coolant - 2001 XJR
The Low Engine Coolant warning (with red dash light) has been coming on intermittently for the last few weeks. I only drive my Jag about twice a week for 20-50 miles a week, so haven't made it a priority to resolve. Engine temperature has been normal.
I did stop at an Auto Parts store but was told to be very careful with Jaguars. Per the car's manual, it needs "orange coolant fluid". Can I use just any Dexcool (labeled for GMs and Fords), or is there something special I should get?
Any specific brand recommendations would be great. Thank you!

I'm going to go with , which is compatible with WSS-M97B44. Someone let me know if I'm wrong, please.

I believe the factory uses Havoline orange coolant. Not sure specifically which one right off hand, if you plan to do a coolant flush you can use some of the universal stuff.
Any orange, extended life coolant should work if you do a flush and clean. And never, ever go by what it says on the jug in terms of life, it can degrade faster than the jug says, if you can every 1-2 years do a full coolant clean and flush the whole system, may be wasteful, but would you rather spend a little time and a small amount of money ever few years to ensure that your engine doesn't corrode? I would! Over time the anti-rust/anti-corrosion agents in the coolant degrade, and can actually harm the engine. Also, if it hasn't been done lately, put in a new thermostat. $10 or $12 at an AutoZone and 15 minutes worth of work, I suggest replacing the thermostat every year, I have seen people that are only getting 10-12 MPG out of their vehicles (that are rated 19+) simply because the thermostat is old and the engine thinks it has to run in cold settings which uses more fuel, so every year or so throw in a new one, not a lot of work! Especially because these cars are not great on gas, and it is expensive, so why not save yourself a few bucks?
