WD40 isn't a lubricant....its a water displacement formula invented by NASA actually. The lithium is a bit thick to get into the post, but right idea. Try a penetrating lube (be careful to cover for overspray) to break into the possible corrosion build up and let it soak for an hour or two. Then try a silicone dry lube, you can get them at Homer in a somewhat small silver spray can.

My driver door started to squeak some time ago from the (dunno what its called) thing that's supposed to catch and hold the door open at a certain position. I tried lubricating it a couple of times but each time it would only help a little and then wouldn't last very long. Then one day I heard a loud "pop" upon opening the door and it would then both squeak and pop every time. I removed the door panel and found that one of the two dog-ear tabs that attaches the device to the door with bolts had broken. I removed the device, welded the dog-ear tab back on, then reinstalled it. Works fine now with no squeaks or noise of any kind.

I use SafariLand CLP (Cleans-Lubricates-Protects) for door hinges as well as for my firearms. PB Blaster is also on my shelf as a good product. I used to be able to get WYNN'S Number 5 and I really liked it. Liquid Wrench is good.
Many chemicals are made for penetrating.

Door check? They creak when they are about to break, sometimes the door sheet metal tears at the mount. There's a reinforcing bracket you can buy online for 10 bucks, I forget where you can get them. It's worth looking at the door check, you can pull the foam and see how it looks. Replacements shouldn't be too hard to find either.

Online you can buy backing plates (maybe better than big washers) if the door is torn, but first pull the door card and be sure it is not the door stop that has broken. I found the lower bolt hole had torn away from the stop (also available online or from Gaudin). Easy fixes. but much nicer to just need lube!

Jaguar DOOR CHECK ARM PLATE. something like this for reinforcement. I did fender washers on my door and they worked pretty well, except that I dropped a few washers in the black hole between the sheet metals in the door...
