2019 Jaguar XJ to Be Reinvented as Tesla-Fighting EV

Jaguar XJ

According to Autocar, the new XJ will retain the sleek styling we’ve come to expect. But in an effort to further compete with Tesla, it will transform from a four-door sedan to a five-door liftback. All of which sounds pretty radical, but the XJ has always been a bit of a trailblazer for the brand. After all, the 2003 XJ became Jag’s first aluminum car. And the current model ushered in a completely new design language.

Without a doubt, keeping luxury sedans relevant moving forward is the biggest challenge facing automakers. Taking the electric plunge with the 2019 Jaguar XJ seems risky, but it’s a risk worth taking.
