Default 96 XJ6 Chrome Side Mirrors

Are the chrome side mirrors just a little chrome plate that goes over the mirror? could you pop it off with a flathead if it is?

I have mine apart at the moment:

There are three stand-offs that just seem to press into sockets, and two clips along the lower edge. Be careful with these, as you can see I've broken one.

I want to repaint one of my covers & if it comes off as easily as it seems, I'd like to remove it. Can anyone re-post the picture that was removed?
Regards,
Ned

I submitted a post, not too long ago, with pictures, of a step by step removal of the mirror covers. Not difficult, just be firm, but gentle. A search should uncover it.

Come on, you could have given him the link. It was last November!

This is likely to get buried here at the end of the thread.

Suggest you start a new thread such as ' Chrome cover for RH mirror - sources in SoCal? '. This will put you in the thread list, get a lot more views and hopefully responses.

It's a small, lighweight part but the body coloured ones are more common. You may have to be prepared to have one mailed from anywhere in the US.
