Hi guys, firstly let me apologize if I have posted this question in the wrong location?
I have a UK 2004 I Type with standard CD/Radio unit. As my Radio is now finding it impossible to receive a station and my CD jumps and frequently fails to eject the CD I am considering a replacement. I'd love to take the retrofit approach of a jaguar sat nav touch screen etc but feel that wiring would take way to long for me to reproduce (and sourcing the component........Oh look, everything is fitted but something is missing), So I will have to sacrifice the looks and am considering a Kenwood DNX 9260BT (a nice unit but doesn't look as good as the factory kit.)
Could anyone advise me as to whether this unit with adapter face plate will actually fit my vehicle. I've read that many units will not fit due to a problem with a heater component causing an obstruction for the double din units or their cage.
Kenwood were unable to guarantee that it would fit and I really don't want to make a costly mistake, and I don't want to butcher anything to make it fit other than flush.
Your help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, kenwood electronics make a double din cd/radio/dvd/mp3 etc entertainment system with BT telephone control and built in Garmin Sat Nav system. It comes with cage and a face plate can be ordered so that the old system can be removed leaving only the heater controls. Trouble is that that i keep hearing about fitment issues with double din units on the x type.

 

I have the Jensen DBL DIN you have the options to add nav about $300 us dollars BT is $60 US dollars and the steering wheel button wiring for $80 from their site There is a face plate for it but it is a few shades darker than factory dash color. all i added to mine was the steering wheel wiring i had garmin gps and i added a 1600watt amp and 12in mtx subs

 

IIRC the depth can't exceed 7". The are a number of posts, Dennis Black in X type did a whole 4 page write up on his mods and someplace there are the dimensions for the double din. You can get the exact color matched (charcoal or black depending) fascia from Metra or something as well. But there is a guy here on this forum who did the whole thing and tells you what he bought and where he got it.

 

I had an Alpine INA-W900 with a Bluetooth, XM Radio and Navagation module installed in my 2002 X-Type. It doesn't look as good as the later models with the factory system but it looks and works fine (see photo).
