Default Jaguar XJ6 - Trunk sealed off, How to get bass into car?

1988 Jaguar XJ6 - Sealed Trunk Problem.

Ive had this car for a while, and ive also had subs in it as well. The only problem I have is the trunk being sealed off from the inside of the car not letting all the bass in. I have removed all the carpet and trim from the trunk exposing the gas tank and both rear lighting modules. I am now laying dynamat (or peel and seal equivalent) material to sound proof the car. To get maximum output I want to port 2 holes right above the gas tank.
I have removed the back seats exposing the metal right under the rear window.

If any of you have done this before, what is the best method of creating an opening from the interior of the car leading to the trunk without damaging the rear window or the gas tank?

Do you have the original subwoofer underneath the rear seats?

You can pop in better units and an aftermarket amp

Hmmm, gas tank, trunk, and sealed off from the passenger compartment of the car. You might consider that there is a very good reason for this.

You mean something like rear end collision, leaking fuel, explosion?

When i used to have an XJ40 i installed the active subwoofer in the trunk (it was cadence fxb-12ca) and the bass was quite good.
BUT. That woofer shot 2 fuel pumps. They went dead in almost no time, and belive me, the fuel pump change is a pain
Now i have a x308 XJ, w/o factory subwoofer, the candence sub is sitting in a garage. Don't want to install it anymore.

How would a sub make the fuel pump go bad?

It's easy. Lot's of vibrations helps the dirt and rust (which normally sits on the floor of the tank) to go to the pick-up filter and restrict it. The restricted filter causes the pump death. And, generally, it's almost impossible to wash ALL the dirt and rust from the tank.
I washed the tank 3 times after the first pump gone bad. The second one followed first in a month and the filter was clogged. Removed the sub and the third pump lived for at least 4 month until i've sold the car.
