Default Kenwood DNX9140 install advice

This weekend I'm planning on finally installing a Kenwood DNX9140 in my 2004 S-type. Does any have installation advice for me? I have all the patch cords, etc. but I'm wondering if there are problem areas that I need to be prepared for. Thanks!

Be careful, I read some bad reviews on the 9140 in regards to the navi system. (street names)

Thumbs up Install finished

So far I love this system including the navigation system. Not sure about the street names issue. I've had Garmins before and this one seems no different. Install went very well and finished in just under four hours. It sounds great with the factory speakers but I think I'll change them over the summer. I'm also going to add the rear camera and the traffic antenna.

Did you also install a steering wheel remote interface? I had a local installer put a Kenwood DDX714 with the KNA-510 navigation and Sirius radio add-ons into my 2004 S-Type and he couldn't get it to work with the Autoleads unit which was recommended on this forum - he tried for about two hours but had to give up and took the Autoleads out.

My PAC SW1 (i think thats the right model) works great on my xk8 and aftermarket deck, keep trying, its not rocket science to get the steering wheel controls to work.

Default Plug 'n Play

I installed the Autoleads PC99-X47 Kenwood OEM remote control adaptor. It worked immediately and I'm really happy with it.

On your unit did you use the single blue wire or the four pin din? - mine uses the single blue wire only for the lower spec model

I used the single blue wire, soldered it together and covered the joint with a heat shirk tube.

hope this helps.
