Default No Audio

Hallo all,

Just bought my first Jag over the weekend and am thinking why oh why didn't i get one years ago! Lovely 2000 Reg, XJ8 3.2 V8. Only a couple of blemishes like a small piece of lacquer and 2 small areas that are bubbling. Nothing a man and a paint gun cant fix! The other problem is my audio, or rather lack of.

Its the factory unit with the changer and nav disk drive in the boot. Initially there was nothing. The cd changer wouldn't even eject the cartridge. So i inspected (all seemed fine) and replaced all the audio fuses, then removed the head unit and found it wasn't plugged in. Me thinks someone has been playing swapsies! So plugged it back in, and.....nothing! The changer now ejects the cartridge and the nav unit now ejects its disk but have got no life from the head unit. Any ideas peeps? Is this a common problem with these? Given that i have replaced all the fuses, as per the manual, is there anything else i should be looking at.

Any help very much appreciated.

Phil

Bit of an update. Ive had the head unit out and inspected the various connectors and all appears fine, nothing loose, no broken wires etc. Have gone over all the various audio related fuses and even though they looked fine, i replaced them with new ones and still nothing. I was going to order a replacement unit but have read stories of people having done that and the replacement doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas on this. No music is driving me nuts!!!!!!!

It might also be worth mentioning that my car had a dead battery. When i went to pick it up the previous owner had put a jump pack on it to start it. Didn't appear to be a bad battery or anything, was just standing for a while. A common trait of this happening is when people disconnect the power.

Welcome to the forum selkent1

You might want to stop by our New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and introduce yourself.

Sadly there isn't much traffice here in the Audio section, once you've done your intro you might want to post a question in the XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section which is specific to your model.
