Default X-Type S-Type Rear Entertainment in XJ8L

For all the XJ drivers out there who were considering the Nalley kit, it can be done!

Oops!

Maybe this should be in the Audio/Video section; mods feel free to move it.

Magmedia that looks awesome! Nice work on the install. I'm down visiting my parents who winter in Florida. I had my rear entertainment system shipped there as they don't ship to Canada and was I ever excited when I got down here and opened them up!

Your pics make me all that more excited to get mine installed!

Cheers!
Rob

Thank you for the pictures.

Can you provide more details?

Did you get the S-type or X-type or are they the same unit?

How did you route the wires to the rear center armrest? Were extensions required to reach that far? What did you do for electricity?

How was it fitting the control unit?

Do your power headrests still work?

I would love any other details you can provide.

Yes, I hope the pics are a help. I have more of the 'fitting an XType Entertainment kit on XJ headrest frames' pics if you would need to see that process. I had left the electrics/cable runs to a pro installer, so no pics there.

I bought the X kit, but it hindsight it would have been better to go with the S kit as it seems that the S kit headrest posts natively fit XJ seats based on info from albert's XJ install...I dont recall if I bought the X kit because I needed Champagne color or just randomly bought the least compatible kit...

Wires to the console travel from seats to under the carpet and ride the 'hump' under the rear seat bottom and up into the rear armrest. No extensions necessary and power, I am told, came from the rear heated seats. The installer told me that the armrest's plastic tray 'pops' out.

See a closer image of the armrest without all the ipod cabling in the way...

Headrests still work!

Very nice job. Would you still have more pics of the "fitment" process that you could post up?

Thanks.

Default Xtype Entertainment Kit on XJ Headrest Frame

Here are the pics of the Xtype Entertainment Kit on XJ Headrest Frame process...

If you have XJ, would suggest buying the SType kit as the process shown here is not necessary as it has been reported that the S headrest kit is a 'drop in' replacement for the XJ....

Thanks for the pics, looks like I'll need to take another look at the more compatable S kit, if I ultimately go this route.
