Yes its as good as any. I was leaving the door open to a couple of people that sometimes are committed to work weekends (eg last time we did Saturday to work in). Looks like its not a conflict this cycle so lets lock in the 22nd, to give people time to organise as you say.

So, Sandy and I went for a pre run run today as we do to check out meeting points and possible venues. After a subsequent mystery tour of central Victoria we have finally made it back.

We think a basic plan for the day might be as follows:

Meet in Gisborne from 10:30AM for an 11AM departure. Meeting point in the service road on the left coming from Melbourne near the Foodworks supermarket. Seems to be plenty of parking, cafes, supemarket for last minute purchases, toilets over the road.

Drive up to Malmsbury Botanical Gardens via a non freeway route. Probably an hour max. Looked at Kyneton Gardens but a bit run down compared to Malmsbury. Large cafe across the street in Malmsbury if the weather is ugly.

There are a couple of wineries in the area and ye olde wares shops in Malmsbury if people are interested after lunch. There are also a couple of photo opportunities along the lines of Kens avatar in the area, so you can park your toy in front of a character building for contrast if you like that style of shot.

We are returning cross country via Heathcote , Shiraz capital of the known universe (or maybe just Central Victoria) to buy some necessary supplies.

If you see flaws in our cunning plan or just have some better ideas please feel free to comment. Anybody additional starters are most welcome. If you would like to come along please just let us know. The group has been building slowly and they are all friendly easy going people so dont be shy.

Sounds great , I can contest to the friendly group for any new starters as the last run was my first and we warmly welcomed and had a great time. I've booked the day in with my secretary (sofy)
The run sounds great, I've done some driving around hanging rock and Woodend in the past and its a great area for a run.

Sounds good. I'm probably on my own unless my better half decides at the last minute to come and ride shotgun. She's not a big fan of drive days as she says I can be a bit spirited at times. I guess I'm ok with that - not ready for a passenger throwing up in the new car yet. (How is your mother in law, Steve? And your new seats?)

I'm probably just going to grab food etc at that cafe then and bring it over to the gardens (unless I get inspired to make something, which is unlikely for me!)

Any route in that part of the country is good. Looking forward to it and putting some faces to the names.

You can tell we are a relatively conservative driving group when together , although what happens on the drive home can vary (does for me at least).

If your batching hang back on the cafe stuff until we get set up. Mrs Yarpos is renowned for over catering (an Irish Tradition) and I suspect others may be similar in full picnic mode. Arm your self with some drinks and go from there.

Cheers

All sounding good, June and I are looking forward to seeing everyone.

To echo Steve and Michael, the previous runs have been very relaxed & friendly. Good fun will be had, there's no competition or "model snobbery", so join in if you can!

Cheers,

Thanks for the info re destination options. Your short form descriptions pretty much described the options perfectly. It a pity they appear to be letting Kyneton go downhill.

Default Melbourne Night Shoot

Mark (MH3.0D) and I caught up last night as he was getting some photos of his XF done near my house. I ended up getting my car photographed too.

Here's one...

That is a term I have never heard before, but back in the 80's I had a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster and belonged to the local Chev club and Rodders club. If it wasn't a 57' Chev or a T- bucket.................

It is one I will steal and use when the time arises.

BTW, in 14 months on these forums I have yet to see a case of "model snobbery"

I assume you guys will be requiring the forum banner?

Me neither, that's why I was confident in expressing it!

And yes, very nice motors in the pic! we have a nice eclectic mix of models forming in the group so far.

It will be a bit of a history of Jaguar parade if everyone makes it. Should make for some interesting pics.

Hi All
I am interested in this. Weekend of 21/22 would be perfect for me. See my post in the newbies section. Just bought a 2007 XK and (hopefully) picking it up in Sydney this weekend to drive it home to Melbourne.
Keep me in mind if this is a goer.
Grant.

Hi Grant

Welcome to the forum.

Its definitely a goer. I will post a reminder after the GP is done and dusted.

Good luck with the big transit stage down to Melbourne.

Cheers
