Hi Grant,

And welcome to the brand. Look forward to meeting you all on Sunday week.

And Steve,

Do you post up a route map? If the route has been decided, we can easily put one together in Google Map and post a picture of it.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Thanks Scott. It is mine in the photo. Can't wait to see it for real though. Just bought it from a dealer in Sydney (inspected by brother-in-law) and they have told me today that there is some delay in getting an aircon part so I may not get the car until the end of next week. The wait is torture.

And yes, very nice motors in the pic! we have a nice eclectic mix of models forming in the group so far.
Having a look at all the late and Early jags that will be along on the Drive, Can I introduce the term "model Envy".

Hi Mark

Up until now we havent bothered with route maps, as they have been short runs. I think that is probably part of the next step to discuss on the weekend. I would like to sound out what people want to do e.g short social runs, weekend runs like GOR or the Alpine Way etc, Car events or all of the above. For this run , if you know the area and would like to do something feel free.

Cheers

Welcome Grant, hope your car is here by the 22nd.

I travel around this are a bit for work. Here's my suggested route that avoids the freeway.
The section over Mt Macedon has some nice twisty sections and the run from Hanging Rock to Kyneton (beside the freeway) is smooth and deserted.

It looks like I won't be making this run. Will have to catch up with you all on the next one. Sorry about that. I hope you all have a good time.

There was a further delay on the car so I have not got it yet. It looks like it will be ready this week now. My wife is going up to Sydney late in the week for work so I am now going to join her on Friday, pick up the car then and we will make a long weekend out of cruising home in the new toy. We are both looking forward to that.

See you next time then, enjoy the trip back. A long weekend cruise sounds a lot better than battling through airports.

Anyone travelling from the SE Suburbs of Melbourne to Gisborne? Be aware there are several road closures this weekend due to two major events on Sunday, 22 March, the Ironman and Run4Kids.

I am coming from the Hastings Road (Westernport Hwy) via the South Gippsland Fwy to the Monash , then travel up Eastlink and cut across to the Tullamarine Fwy to the Calder on the outbound leg.

The return leg should ok clear for the Bolte Bridge, Burnley Tunnel and Monash.

Should anyone want to meet up, the BP / Maccas / Coffee Shop on Eastlink, North Bound is where I will be departing around 9 am.

Will be good to catch up on Sunday , the weather looks like being kind to us this Sunday.

Meet in Gisborne from 10:30AM for an 11AM departure. Meeting point in the service road on the left coming from Melbourne near the Foodworks supermarket. Seems to be plenty of parking, cafes, supemarket for last minute purchases, toilets over the road.

Drive up to Malmsbury Botanical Gardens using Ken's proposed route https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...Q.kFWJyos25BUY

Will send my mobile number by PM. If you get held up or have to bail on the day , please give me a call or SMS so we arent waiting for someone who cant make it.

Looking forward to catching up and also meeting our new starters.

There seems to be an error in the link, the one on Ken's (Hawken) post works.

Thanks Tony, I just did a cut and paste and didnt notice the link had been automagically shortened for brevity. The full link is in there now.

Cheers

Should be a good day, it normally is, they are a nice group of people.

Attendance puzzles me as I think we have talked about PMing. Seems to be quite a few people out there but only a few interested in the runs. We will be thinking about doing different stuff this year, just for variety but also maybe to see if new people are attracted by different events.

As far as starters goes, we have double the population but only 50% more starters. So more work to do yet.

Cheers

We are going to the Euro day at Lakeside Raceway, new exotics to old classics there. Track cruises, serious track sessions, show and shine and kids entertainment and trade stalls.
Whole new lot of people too. Different strokes I guess.

Have a good run tomorrow guy. Sorry I can't make it

I picked up my car yesterday and it is even better than I hoped. The dealer prepared it very well. One slight problem however. On the drive from the dealer in Rozelle to my in-laws in St Ives the air con started leaking water profusely onto the floor on the passenger side. The dealer was unaware, they replaced the air con fan when preparing it for sale and never did a long test. So I had to take it back in this morning and have been told to come back Monday afternoon to get it. Apparently their service centre has done this job before on another XK so they know what they are doing and say they should be able to do it in a few hours.

A bit disappointing I can't have the car for the weekend but at least I am still going to get to drive back to Melbourne in it. The good thing is my wife is finding reasons to extend the trip by arranging business meetings in Canberra and Albury.

I am going to head out from my place at 7am. I do not want to get caught in a Sunday traffic jam that may occur on Eastlink. If I dont get caught in traffic, I will be in Gisborne for brekkia around 8.30 to 9 am, then just wait for the fellow cruisers to arrive from 10.30.

I will be at 3 Little Pigs, Shop 1, 30A Aitken St, Gisborne. Very close to the original parking destination, just right at the roundabout on the main road, then immediate left into the service road.

Anyone else wanting brekkie is welcome to join.
