Default X type suspension???

Anyone out there found a fix for the incredibly poor suspension system on the X Type. Love everything about the car except the suspension. I can feel every bump in the road. I know there are people who will say it is because it is a sports model but this is ridiculous. I have changed the rear shockers with the recommended Bilson type but it has made no difference. Have thought of increasing the tyre size to 60's but was told it would void my insurance.
ANYONE HELP!!!!

The X-type suspension is what it is. Perhaps your suspension has become worn out and many of the bushings and joints need replacing.
What diameter wheels are on your car? 16s, 17s, 18s or larger? The lower the profile tire the harsher the ride will be.
I have 18s on one of my Estates, and 17s on the others. I can feel the ride difference on the 18s.
I've found that the X-types have a decent combination of smooth ride with decent handling overall. *Compared to other AWD cars of its day.

It has 16 inch wheels, is it O.K. to fit higher profile tyres?

Yes, one can put on higher profile tires, but 3 things will affected.
1. Your speedometer will no longer be accurate.
2. It will raise the ground clearance by 1/2 the height difference between the original outside diameter of the old tire and the new tire. Can/will slightly affect the CG and cornering of the car.
3. Depending on how much higher of a profile you use, the front tires may start hitting your fender liners, and if large enough a tire diameter increase, perhaps start rubbing on the ID of the fenders. Rear tires might start hitting the rear liners when you have passengers in the back and you hit a bump and the suspension compressed all the way to the bump stops.

You might get more infomed eyeballs on your question by posting in the X type forum area , rather than this regional one. Just a thought.

Thanks for the details, I might try going from 55's to 60's next tyre change. Trouble is I was used to an SUV which I believe is better suited to rough roads.
Anyway you have been a great help
