Can anyone give me some.e advice on getting a key cut with only a vin number. I went to jaguar dealer in Toronto and there trying to get me a code. It's a 1992 xj6. Lost original key. Managed to get into car with coat hanger but can't drive.

Some locksmiths have a pick tool that will then give them the code to cut the key. When you know the code you can order the key precut on ebay. If you have access to your trunk, you can remove the lock and the key code if it's the same as a x308 is visible if you know how to read it

 

Years ago we got a PAPER TSB so I copied it to a JPEG and then converted it to a .pdf with ACROBAT 4.0. (a long time ago)

My regular mechanic knew a guy. He took the drivers door panel off and got the code from the lock. He then got blank key and cut it from the code. $600. Didn't really have any choice about the cost. Had to get a key or scrap it. Going to get a spare made straight away. Couldn't drive all summer. And now it's going back parked underground. Thanks for all the help everyone.
