Default Clear Coat Damage

The hood on my XKR has some clear coat and/or paint damage. It appears this was caused by tree sap or bird droppings--not sure since the car had this when I bought it. I've seen the "Scratch Eliminator Clearcoat Pen" by Magna online with decent reviews. Has anyone had any experience with this product for this type of damage? Open to suggestions on best way to repair. You can see from the pics that it appears the base paint is still intact with some darkening.

Thanks,

Mark,

I saw your pictures and from the photos its very difficult to see the extent of the damage or stains....it cant imagine (unless the topcoat was eatin away from the acidity) that a D/A using the Meguiar's MF correction system couldnt correct this. Its cutting power is fabulous, and it sure beats using a rotary polisher or colorsanding (last resort)

I would just work a 2x2 section at a time, going side to side, then up and down, then one last time side to side working slowly and steady with moderate pressure. Use the correction compound first with the correction pad, then the finishing pad with the finish wax......You should be able to correct this unless the paint is completely checked or cracked...

Let me know how it goes..
